Cherry unveils its first XTRFY gaming keyboard with MX2A switches

Cherry is launching its first gaming keyboard to feature its new MX2A switches. The Cherry XTRFY K5V2 is a compact 65% keyboard, equipped with Red MX2A switches, the latest version of Cherry's renowned mechanical switches with some key design tweaks.

The MX2A switches ship with a new spring design, changing from cylindrical to barrel geometry for near-contactless linear movement, reducing spring deformation and scratching. All MX2A switches also use a Gold Crosspoint contact system, enabling a debounce time of less than 1ms.

The Cherry XTRFY K5V2 ups the ante for RGB lighting with advanced per-key illumination alongside LED strips to enhance colours and effects further. With its compact dimensions and linear Red switches, users will reclaim some desk space and have a quieter and more responsive typing experience with durable long-lasting switches.

The keyboard comes with a solid metal plate construction and double layers of sound absorbing foam. Users will also benefit anti-ghosting, 1000Hz polling and Super Scan technology, which scans all keys every half a milisecond for increased response times for gaming. The keyboard has a detachable USB cable, so you can easily unplug it for transporting.

The Cherry XTRFY K5V2 will be available in black and Transparent White versions, and if you go through the Cherry XTRFY store, you can customise the keyboard further, including switches, key caps, logo plates and more. Prices start at $139 for the Black version and $149 for the Transparent White version.
