The front of the box shows the Gioteck EX-O5s Gaming Headset while listing the key features – such as HD audio, stainless steel details and system compatibility.
The headset is powered by USB, which is noted on the back of the box. However, there are several adapters included in the box for compatibility with consoles and TVs.
The headset has rather large earcups, which look fairly normal. However, the headband is very different, instead of using foam for padding, Gioteck have opted to use netting – sandwiched between two flimsy stainless steel bands.
One of the steel bands has the EX-05s product name engraved in it.
The headset microphone extends pretty far and is flexible, allowing users to position it to their liking.
The in-line controls are very basic, offering wheels for game and voice volume. There is also a microphone mute switch on the front.
There are two product manuals included in the box, a USB adapter, 3.5mm jack adapter and RCA connectors to ensure compatibility across all devices.
My initial impressions upon opening up the headset for the first time are mixed. I am not a fan of the headband with its flimsy strips of stainless steel, lack of padding and netting in the middle. However, the ear cups are big enough to fit most ear sizes and there is a good amount of adapter cables included for compatibility purposes.
Now let's find out how this headset performs…
