PC Specialist Fuscia X w/RTX 2080 winner announced!

Throughout September and most of October, we called on you, the KitGuru readers, to participate in our annual reader survey. Thousands of you entered, voicing your opinions on the best tech released this year. Many of you also chose to enter the giveaway to win a PC Specialist system featuring a brand new RTX 2080 graphics card. Today, we are pleased to announce the winner.

The Fuscia X system from PC Specialist packs an Intel Core i7-8700K and an Nvidia RTX 2080, all housed in a Cooler Master H500M chassis with plenty of RGB lights and cooling included. It's a brilliant gaming system and should serve the winner very well.

We initially intended to announce the winner before the end of last week. Unfortunately, we had some issues getting in touch with them. Fortunately, we've finally managed to track them down so now without further ado, the winner is… Bas Hoving from The Netherlands!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey this year. We'll have more giveaways lined up for the future.

KitGuru Says: Congrats to Bas, we hope you enjoy your new gaming PC!

KitGuru Games: DLSS 5 misses the point

It would be hard to argue that NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies haven’t been a net positive to the PC space, with the machine-learning based upscaler successfully translating lower resolution inputs into a final image which is perceivably sharper while hogging fewer resources. Though somewhat more contentious, the next evolution of DLSS came in the form of Frame Generation, using ML in order to generate additional frames for high-refresh rate gaming. Both techniques can have their issues, but generally speaking they’ve allowed for more people to experience higher-end titles at increased frame rates. DLSS 5, however, takes a sharp pivot, with a very different end goal in mind than the performance-boosting versions that came before.
