HITMAN: World of Assassination hits major new player milestone

While the Hitman series has been well-known and loved by millions of players since the first game’s release back in 2000, the franchise truly hit it big with the release of 2016’s HITMAN and its sequels. Since rebranded to HITMAN: World of Assassination, this trilogy-turned-platform has gone on to be experienced by over 75 million total players.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at IO Interactive shared this latest and impressive milestone, saying:

“HITMAN World of Assassination has surpassed the milestone of 75 million players worldwide since its launch, ensuring even more its status as the most successful Hitman game of all time.”

It is worth noting of course that 75 million players does not equate to 75 million copies sold, especially as the World of Assassination Trilogy has been available in various different forms across multiple game subscription services.

Still, such a massive figure is worth celebrating, especially for a (now) independent studio such as IOI.

It will be interesting to see how the studio’s upcoming James Bond 007 game performs when it is eventually released sometime in the next few years.
