MSI launches its own ‘EZ’ 120mm ARGB fans with magnetic connectors

We've seen a few PC case fan makers following in Lian-Li's footsteps with magnetic connectors for easy and convenient daisy-chaining. This week, MSI has become the latest to get in on this trend with its new MPG EZ120 fans.

The new MPG EZ120 ARGB fans feature MSI's proprietary JAF 7-pin header, which combines ARGB (33 LEDs per fan distributed across the blade and frame) and system fan connections to streamline cable management. The MPG EZ120 ARGB fan series uses Magnetic Connector Blocks, which use magnets to secure the fans, simplifying the assembly process.

The fan features a new fluid dynamic bearing system with an extra fastening nut to reduce vibration and noise while improving overall longevity. Using a copper tube in the bearing design improves its resistance to scaling, mechanical strength, and long-term reliability. The fans can also handle high air pressure requirements, so they should work well on an AIO, or in a case. With a 9-blade design and a 28-mm thickness, these fans can provide up to 2.56 mmH2O of air pressure and 73.82 CFM of airflow.

MSI's three-fan package offers a range of accessories, including a fan control hub and a daisy-chain connector for greater extension and versatility. The control hub supports up to 18 MPG EZ120 ARGB fans via four expansion connectors. The daisy-chain cable makes cable routing much more accessible, especially for fans placed at the rear of the chassis, while also addressing potential compatibility issues with motherboard fan headers.
