AMD Phenom II X4 975 Black Edition Review – overclocking performance

Pushing to 4.2ghz requires extra voltage and a high quality cooling system.

To get to 4.2ghz we increase the multiplier to 21x. Simple enough.

To get the clocks stable at 4.2ghz we have to increase the voltage to 1.531v, this will vary slightly depending on the processor and motherboard. Please don't try this with a reference Intel cooler!

System validation is available over here.
