Report claims Kojima has officially left Konami, Konami claims he’s just on vacation

We've been receiving some conflicting reports this morning regarding Konami and Hideo Kojima's employment at the company. While it has been largely assumed that the Metal Gear creator hasn't worked there for months, this morning a report claimed that Kojima officially parted ways with Konami earlier this month on the 9th of October. Konami on the other hand, is claiming that Kojima is merely taking ‘a long time off'.

According to a report from the New Yorker, Kojima had an emotional farewell party earlier this month. However, a spokesperson for Konami's HQ issued a statement to Tokyo Sports, saying: “Currently, Kojima is a listed as a company employee at Konami. Currently, Kojima and the development team are finished developing Metal Gear Solid V and are taking a long time off from work.”

Konami is insisting that it is common for its developers to take a long break after a big project has finished development. Kojima Productions has spent the last few years working on Metal Gear Solid V, which launched back in September. However, this does contradict with previous reports surrounding the closing down of Kojima productions and the fallout between the man himself and Konami.

Speaking with Kotaku, one source claims that Kojima's contract is actually due to run out in December, so who knows what's really going on, it still seems to be a bit of a mystery.

KitGuru Says: The Konami situation still isn't entirely cleared up. However, if Kojima's contract really is up in December, maybe we'll finally get the full story around that time or at some point next year.
