Generally the machine is inaudible, even when watching high definition movie content on the hard drive. When pushed hard however, such as when looping Cinebench R11.5 at 100% processor load, the fan kicks in hard and a constant stream of warm air is forced out the side of the machine. We would imagine the Core i7 version of the machine to be even louder.
