In the past year or so we have seen a number of component manufacturers such as Thermaltake and Cooler Master expand their product ranges into the gaming peripherals market.  While some of these manufacturers have entered the market very quickly with a large range of gaming peripherals, Corsair has taken a more careful approach.

About a year ago, Corsair released the impressive HS1 headset which garnered critical acclaim including our own ‘Must Have’ award for the analogue version.  Today we are going to look at one of the latest additions to their range, the Vengeance 1500, which is based on the existing HS1 headset.  It boasts an impressive specification which includes 50mm driver units and virtual 7.1 surround sound.

Features

  • High-performance 50mm drivers – ensure accurate audio across the full range of frequencies.
  • Optimized baffle and geometry – tuned for the most precise surround sound effects.
  • Dolby Headphone – sophisticated processing simulates 5.1 channel sound (7.1 also supported).
  • Circumaural, closed back – surrounds the ears for optimal comfort, and provides tight noise isolation of external sounds.
  • Replaceable memory-foam earpads – memory foam conforms to the shape of you head, enhancing comfort and allowing you to play for longer.
  • Unidirectional, noise-cancelling mic – you team-mates hear you loud, and clear.
  • USB connection – allows for optimized sound processing and EQ mapping, to extract the best and most consistent performance from the 50mm drivers.
  • Aggressive looks – a unique style that stands out from the crowd.

Looks great. I always like corsair build quality and appearance. some of those gaming headsets look made for 13 year old girls.

Corsair make great products. I love their latest speakers and cases. Their QC is top rate. Never had a problem with any of their hardware and I have mainly corsair hardware when I can. power supply, case, memory, speakers. wish they did monitors too !

Either these review are bought and payed for. Or I’m not sitting here with the same headset.

x Bass is poor even with the lower range EQ ramped up.
x Squeezes top of head after 30 min.
x Squeezes ears after 2 hours.
x The memory foam feels “cheap” around the ear.
x Volum rocket has to massive LED lights that cannot be turnet off.
x The 50mm dosent really do its job. 40 mm are just as good.

Im sticking with my Steelseries 5H v2 and shiping these back.

Bought and paid for? I dont even think Corsair advertise here, lol.

I have the Corsair 1500 headphones and they are better sound quality than my steelseries. better bass response and clarity.

You either have a duff pair, or you have a hearing impediment. Or both. (and a fat head, they fit me perfectly).

Heads and prefrences will allways be diffrent.

Reviewers all say that bass is lacking in them, and you need to make up for it with the EQ.

As for the fat head I’m soon 30, maybe this headset is aimed for puberty people, I don’t know.

My point in all this is to reflect that opinions are diffrent, and from reading reviews this headset comes out as the best headset in the world. But for many people this headset will be useless.
