Belkin release Thunderbolt Express dock

Belkin first showed their Thunderbolt Express Dock back in IDF 2011. A year later and after a minor facelift it was showcased at CES 2012, due for release later that year.

Finally the product has been released keeping the same low profile aluminum style exterior they used in January 2012. They have however changed some of the ports on the back of the device.

There is a FireWire 800 port, 3.5 mm audio input, 3.5 mm audio output, Gigabit Ethernet and two Thunderbolt ports which offer bidirectional 10Gbps bandwidth speeds. The three USB ports have been swapped over from USB 2.0 standard to USB 3.0 standard.

The primary Thunderbolt port is an upstream port for connection directly to a Thunderbolt equipped laptop (no cable supplied) and the second is a downstream port which can connect up to five Thunderbolt devices in a daisychain. Belkin have included a cable channel so the user can feed the cable through from the rear to the front of the device to make it easier.

Belkin say that people can connect up to eight devices to their Mac via a single cable. It can be bought for $299.99 in America, now.
