EK launches a limited edition US-themed Velocity CPU block

To celebrate this Memorial Day Weekend, EK has launched a US-themed Velocity CPU water block. There are two versions of this themed Velocity CPU water block: one for Intel processors and another for AMD processors.

“Decorated” with the US flag, the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor is limited to 200 units. For each water block sold, EK will donate $100 to Shellback Tech, a charitable organisation that builds gaming PCs for disabled veterans. If the CPU water blocks sell out, it will result in a donation of $20,000 to the organisation.

There will be two versions of the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor: Black Nickel + Stars & Stripes, and AMD Black Nickel + Stars & Stripes. This water block uses the 5th iteration of EK's cooling engine, customised to further improve its performance. The top of the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor is “CNC-milled out of a solid piece of nickel-plated brass”, while the star and stripes cover is made of aluminium. The copper cold plate features a “dense microfin structure” and the contact surface is polished to improve the contact with the CPU heat spreader.

The EK D-RGB logo in the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor is compatible with most motherboard RGB software: Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync and MSI Mystic Light Sync. This is achieved through the 3-pin LED connector which can be connected to the motherboard's D-RGB header.

Socket compatibility for the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor Black Nickel + Stars & Stripes includes the Intel LGA 1150/1151/1155/1156/2011(3)/2066, while the EK-Quantum Velocity Honor AMD Black Nickel + Stars & Stripes is only compatible with AM4.

The EK-Quantum Velocity Honor water block is available for pre-order from the EK webshop. Both the AMD and Intel versions will launch on May 28th, priced at $249.99.
