A new Resident Evil game is in the works and testing begins soon

Capcom kicked off this year with the excellent Resident Evil 2 Remake and it looks like another new game in the series is already well on the way. Over in Japan, members of the Resident Evil Ambassadors program have begun receiving invites to alpha test a new Resident Evil game.

The email was originally shared by the folks at fan-site ‘Biohaze‘, with the email looking to recruit testers for a game that is in development. These tests are expected to take place on the 8th or 9th of September.

Resident Evil has had plenty of spin-offs and remakes over the years, so it is possible that this test could be for a modernised version of an older game in the series, or another Resident Evil Revelations game, a new spin-off series, or even Resident Evil 8.

What we do know is that Capcom Division 1 is developing this new game. Hopefully we’ll get some kind of official announcement for what’s next in the Resident Evil series later this year.

KitGuru Says: I thoroughly enjoyed Resident Evil 2 Remake, so I would like to see a similar reimagining, although it almost feels like the right time for Resident Evil 8. Either way, it sounds like more information won’t be too far away, whether it comes through leaks or an official announcement.
