Alan Wake 2 is reportedly in development and funded by Epic Games

We learned last year that Remedy was working on two unannounced projects, both of which are being funded and published by Epic Games. Now, we may know what one of this projects is, as sources this week claim that Remedy is indeed working on Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake originally released over a decade ago on the Xbox 360 and while it did get an expansion in the form of American Nightmare, many fans have been hoping for a full sequel. According to games journalist Jeff Grubb, Alan Wake 2 is indeed one of the two projects that Epic Games funded.

This is a change in strategy for Epic Games, moving away from buying exclusivity for already in-development titles and instead helping fund new games from the ground up. Remedy hasn't announced anything official yet, but the studio did tease a return to Alan Wake last year with Control's second expansion.

If all of this is true, the Alan Wake 2 will be the “AAA multiplatform game” that entered pre-production last year. Remedy is also working on a “small-scale project set in the same franchise”, which is also being funded by Epic Games.
