Blizzard head squashes Diablo 4 Game Pass rumours

With the tides turning and Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard looking more likely, a lot of people are eager to learn when they might expect the publisher's games to hit Game Pass. We already know that Call of Duty is unlikely to arrive until 2025, as Activision and Sony still have a marketing deal in place for COD. Recently Blizzard head, Mike Ybarra, also squashed rumours that Diablo 4 would immediately hit the service.

Rumours of Diablo 4 heading to Game Pass appeared earlier this week after a Brazilian payment provider's advertisement claimed the game was available through Game Pass. We've seen marketing errors like this previously, most notably with Cyberpunk 2077, with CD Projekt Red having to come out and deny any plans to bring the title to Microsoft's gaming subscription service. Now, Blizzard is doing the same.

After screenshots of the Diablo 4 Game Pass ad began to circulate on Twitter, Mike Ybarra, Blizzard President, chimed in to say “this is not happening”, shutting down the rumour.

Of course, if Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard does go through, we will likely see Diablo 4 on Game Pass at some point. However, it may not happen as quickly as we saw with Bethesda's titles after Microsoft's Zenimax acquisition.

KitGuru Says: While it is looking more likely that Microsoft will be able to close this acquisition, it isn't a done deal just yet and mergers of this size take time. I wouldn't expect Diablo 4 on Game Pass next week, next month, or even necessarily this year.
