We are over a year on from the successful launch of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, the second part in Square Enix's grand remake trilogy. Now, all attention has turned to the third and final installment, and it looks like development is already quite far along, with voice lines already being recorded.
Voice actor, Cody Christian, who voices the English language version of Cloud Strife in the remake trilogy, shared an update on social media this week, confirming that voice lines are now being recorded for the next game.
This falls in line with Square Enix's timeline. From Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Rebirth, it took Square Enix around three years of development time. With the third part of the trilogy, Square Enix is aiming for another three year timeline, which would give us a release in 2027.
Given that voice actors are now in the booth recording their lines, it is safe to say that the story is settled on and development is progressing smoothly.

KitGuru Says: If we're getting a 2027 release date, then we should start getting real news on the third entry in this trilogy starting in 2026.
