8BitDo Pro 2 controller announced

Over the past few years, 8BitDo has garnered a strong reputation for creating high quality 3rd party video game controllers which harken back to many different retro consoles. The company has been branching out, creating more original designs, and now they have announced the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller, which includes backpaddles and more.

8BitDo has announced the successor to the much-loved SN30 Pro+ controller, which looks similar to an SNES gamepad, but adds many modern conveniences, such as joysticks, rumble, grip handles and more.

The 8BitDo Pro 2 evolves this design, adding even more new features, including “two back buttons that you can assign any function to”. You can now also switch between three different configuration profiles at the press of a button, offering much greater adaptability depending on the game and system you are playing on.

Other small improvements include a new textured back for increased grip and handling, as well as a new Android and iOS app which makes configuring the controller much simpler.

Perhaps the best thing about the 8BidDo Pro 2 however is the fact that it will cost the exact same as its predecessor, $49.99, meaning you now get even more value for the same price. The SN30 Pro+ was much-loved when it first released back in 2019. It will be interesting to see what users think when the Pro 2 launches on the 12th of April.
