You can now buy shoes in Fortnite

Over the years, Epic Games has introduced new forms and variations of its cosmetic skins to Fortnite. From alternate colour schemes to LEGO counterparts, customisability is a major part of the game’s (financial) success. In an interesting move, you’ll soon be able to buy different pairs of shoes for your characters.

As part of their blog post detailing the upcoming ‘Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix’ (arriving on the 12th of November), Epic Games announced a new type of customisation coming to the game: Kicks.

According to Epic, “The initial lineup of Kicks will feature Nike and Jordan brands alongside Fortnite originals” and will be compatible with over 500 skins at launch. By Spring 2025, 95% of all skins should be supported.

While added customizability is always welcome, this latest move is a clear tactic by Epic to encourage players to spend more v-bucks – especially with the likes of the highly-collectible ‘Jordans’ brand arriving straight from launch.

Each new additional element of customizability in Fortnite comes as a double-edged sword – letting you build your preferred player avatar, but also cluttering up the battle pass with increasingly minor cosmetics. It will be interesting to see how Fortnite's shoes will be received.
