AMD has not yet officially announced its next-gen Ryzen Z-series APUs for gaming handhelds, but one leaker this week has claimed to have early details. Apparently, Ryzen Z3 will make the jump to Zen 6, although there is plenty of reason to take the current information given with a pinch of salt.
A new rumour suggests AMD’s next Ryzen Z‑series processors for PC gaming handhelds could adopt a semi‑custom configuration built around Zen 6 CPU cores. The information comes from a new, unproven leaker called Gotou_3rd and began circulating widely once VideoCardz picked up the story.
According to the apparent leak, the current Ryzen Z3 configuration being tested apparently uses a 4+2 CPU layout, combining four Zen 6 cores with two low‑power cores. The leaker notes this arrangement may have changed, and alternative core mixes have been mentioned in previous posts. On the graphics side, KeplerL2 has previously claimed that the next-gen Ryzen Z series APU will use RDNA4m, an apparent derivative of RDNA 3.5 with RDNA 4 ALUs.
VideoCardz’ analysis of the rumour suggests this design may be a semi‑custom variant of AMD’s upcoming Medusa Point architecture, trading some CPU cores for a larger integrated GPU.
KitGuru Says: As with all early engineering‑level leaks, these details should be treated cautiously until AMD provides official information.
