Jagex announced a fourth RuneScape MMO built on Unreal Engine, alongside an animated series adaptation, during RuneFest 2026. Currently working under the title RS4, the new MMO is still far from release, but updates coming to the other RuneScape titles should keep fans occupied.
The studio has partnered with YouTuber Charlie White (MoistCr1TiKaL) and Lyrical Media for the animated adaptation. Like the RS4 project, the studio still hasn't shared a release date. Meanwhile, RuneScape Reignited, which is basically a new mode for RuneScape 3, launches on December 2nd with a fresh economy, Remastered Journey, and free access until December 12th. A new plugin API is also releasing later this month following an early hands-on period.
In 2027, RuneScape 3 is also getting three story arcs starting with Hoard of Dragons in January, alongside an Agility rework, City of Gnomes in the spring of 2027, and the Secrets of Karamja in the autumn. Old School RuneScape's roadmap is even more stacked, starting with the Fractured Archive on October 20th, followed by The Chosen Commander and the Dungeons of Gielinor in the winter, the Golden Gates to Menaphos in the spring, the Fairytale questline and a Mining and Smithing rework in the summer, and the Tower of Xorphoros in autumn.
Spinoff title RuneScape: Dragonwilds is also getting some love with the introduction of the Luminance update this December, adding the Prayer skill and Elves ahead of 2027's Blood Crystal Saga. For this saga, Jagex confirmed monthly and quarterly updates, Hunter and Slayer skills, and console-compatible CurseForge modding support arriving in 2027.
