Arkane Studios is working on a third-person Blade game

As promised, Xbox Game Studios showed up in force at The Game Awards last night. Not only did we get a new trailer for Ninja Theory's Hellblade 2, but Arkane also made an appearance. The bad news is, we aren't getting Dishonored 3 like rumours claimed. However, they are working on a new game centred around Marvel character Blade.

While rumours claimed that Arkane's Lyon studio may announce Dishonored 3 at The Game Awards, instead we got a completely unexpected and surprising announcement. Arkane Lyon has been tasked with creating Marvel's Blade:

“In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead”, the description reads. The game is set to be a “mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris”.

In an Xbox Wire post, Blade game director, Dinga Bakaba, explained that the reveal is taking place now to celebrate the character's 50th anniversary. The game is currently in early development and no gameplay was shown in the reveal trailer. We also don't have confirmation on supported platforms yet so this project may be mapped out for 2028, which is when the next Xbox is expected to launch.

KitGuru Says: Given Arkane's success with first-person action games, I would have liked to have seen a first-person take on Blade but that could be partially to do with Marvel – after all, they want you to see their characters on the screen as often as possible.
