Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are reportedly in development

Within the next few months, Halo Studios will ship its first project, a remake of the original Halo campaign built in Unreal Engine 5. According to rumours, Halo: Campaign Evolved may just be the beginning, with remakes also planned for Halo 2 and Halo 3.

According to Rebs Gaming, Halo Studios is already in active development on remakes for Halo 2 and Halo 3. Presumably these remakes will follow the same formula as Halo 1, offering a rebuilt campaign with reworked visuals, with maybe an extra mission or two and no multiplayer modes.

Aside from these classic Halo remakes, the team is also apparently working on a new multiplayer project, one that began life as a Battle Royale game, before reportedly shifting towards an extraction shooter design. It is unclear when this new standalone multiplayer version of Halo will become available.

On top of that, it is also currently unclear when we will see the next mainline Halo game. We have had no new story content in the games since the launch of Halo Infinite in 2021.

KitGuru Says: Halo Infinite really seemed to excel at translating the combat to a larger battlefield. All of the open world stuff was very fun. Unfortunately, the game was let down by its main campaign missions, which all took place in locked-down, very similar-looking levels. I would much rather see Halo Studios improve on that formula for a new mainline game, rather than trying to reignite the glory days with more remakes.
