Asus has announced the ROG Gjallar, a premium gaming soundbar designed to deliver 2.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound. The new audio system features a 5GHz wireless subwoofer, a multi-function control hub with integrated microphones, and HDMI 2.1 connectivity with 4K@120Hz pass-through support.
Asus built the GJallar soundbar with left and right full-range speakers, dedicated tweeters, and upward-firing channels. A slim 6.5-inch, 65W wireless subwoofer handles low-end frequencies, using a 5GHz connection to ensure low latency. According to the company, this setup establishes a 3D soundstage intended to help players pinpoint enemy locations.
An all-in-one control hub provides a physical interface via a built-in LCD screen. Users can toggle input sources, adjust EQ settings, and manage the integrated ASUS Aura RGB lighting. This hub also houses Acoustic Echo Cancellation microphones that use an AI beamforming algorithm to suppress ambient sounds.
Physical inputs include USB-C, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, optical, and AUX, alongside Bluetooth 5.3 compatibility. The unit supports 4K@120Hz pass-through to prevent resolution compromises when connecting consoles or PCs. On the side, two USB Type-A ports serve as a hub for wireless dongles and other peripherals. Finally, the web-based Gear Link tool or accompanying mobile app allows customisation of lighting, microphone presets, and audio profiles.
