Beats Audio to launch music streaming service later this year

Due to its recent acquisition of music streaming service MOG, Beats Audio is looking to launch its own service later this year. The service from Beats Audio, who are better known for overpriced headphones and software equalisers on some of HTC's smartphones and HP laptops, will be in direct competition with the likes of Spotify and Pandora.

The service is being developed under the codename of Daisy under the command of Ian Rogers and Nine Inch Nails' lead man Trent Reznor as Cheif Creative Officer. CEO and co-founder Jimmy Iovine had this to say about the upcoming streaming service; “what's missing from the digital music landscape is a cultural context. We need to bring an emotional connection back to the act of music discovery. With Trent and now Ian we have the right team in place to do it.”

The Spotify competitor is expected to launch in late 2013 and is expected to operate as a seperate company falling under Beats Electronics.
