AMD Phenom II X4 960T cancelled

AMD insiders notified us a while ago that the Phenom II X4 960T, better known for its ‘unlocking to six core' capabilities will not reach retail and will be an OEM only part.

Many people were looking forward to owning a six core CPU for the price of only a four core and their dreams have just bitten the dust. In hindsight however AMD did come under flak when users unlocked X3 CPU's and ran into issues. AMD never officially supported this and are probably just covering their bases, even if it means some lost sales.

No more information is available right now but selected OEMs will be bundling it with specific machines.
