Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is out on PC, locked at 30fps

Today we have some good news and bad news. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has finally landed on Steam, after launching on the Xbox One and PS4 months ago. However, the game has a rather unfortunate 30 frames per second cap by default, which is pretty disappointing.

We also have the system requirements for the game on the PC, with minimum requirements calling for a Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a GTX 560Ti or an AMD Radeon 7790. On the recommended side, you will need a Core i5 CPU, 6GB of RAM and a GTX 750.

PC specific features include:

  • Upgraded graphics resolution options
  • Improved in-game battle camera
  • Controller support
  • STEAM achievements and trading cards
  • Scalable motion blur settings
  • New Character speed boost
  • Increased blood levels from the original PSP version
  • Customizable dynamic screen shot mode

Unfortunately, the 30 frames per second lock is not mentioned on the store page, this is something you have to find out for yourself upon buying the game. Now there could be a good reason for the 30 frames per second cap, after all, the game did originate on the PSP and it may be the case that the frame rate is tied to the physics of the game. However, it would still be nice to know beforehand.

You can buy Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on Steam for £19.99.

KitGuru Says: I was looking forward to playing this on the PC, particularly with its action-oriented combat system. However, I'm just not a big fan of 30fps locks, I'm a bit of a frame rate diva. Maybe some modders will dig around the files and find a way to unlock the frame rate at some point.

KitGuru Games: DLSS 5 misses the point

It would be hard to argue that NVIDIA’s DLSS technologies haven’t been a net positive to the PC space, with the machine-learning based upscaler successfully translating lower resolution inputs into a final image which is perceivably sharper while hogging fewer resources. Though somewhat more contentious, the next evolution of DLSS came in the form of Frame Generation, using ML in order to generate additional frames for high-refresh rate gaming. Both techniques can have their issues, but generally speaking they’ve allowed for more people to experience higher-end titles at increased frame rates. DLSS 5, however, takes a sharp pivot, with a very different end goal in mind than the performance-boosting versions that came before.

30 FPS, not again. So unless its budget I won’t bother.

  3. 30fps still hurts my eyes

  4. I get $9999 an hour reporting people like you.

  5. Well, it was know for a while that it would run at 30 fps due to game mechanics tied to framerate, so It’s also highly unlikely that there will be a way to unlock it without speeding up or breaking the game…

  6. i dont think the 750 is better than the 560 ti
