AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processors may feature up to 96-cores

Samples of the next generation of Ryzen Threadripper processors have seemingly been sent out. Previously, a 64-core Threadripper CPU was spotted in online listings, and now, two benchmark entries for a 96-core CPU sample have surfaced. 

The entries (1, 2) found by Benchleaks show the two processors were tested on Einstein@Home. This software uses your computer's idle time to search for weak astrophysical signals from spinning neutron stars using data from gravitational-wave detectors, radio telescopes, and the Fermi gamma-ray satellite.

According to both entries, the processors with the 100-000000884-21_N 100-000000884-20_Y OPN codes come with 96 cores and 192 threads. At first sight, these codes alone may not say much. However, comparing them to the one shared alongside the 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 7000 processor entry, it seems these two chips belong to the same family.

Assuming these two 96-core CPUs are based on the EPYC 9004 series with the same core count (they even have similar OPN codes), their base clock should be around 2.0GHz. Still, they should be able to boost over 4.0GHz when possible. AMD should announce its new generation of Ryzen Threadripper CPUs in 2023.
