Final Fantasy XVI release date announced

It's been more than 6 years since the release of Final Fantasy XV, and while we have known for a while that its much anticipated sequel is planned to launch sometime during Summer 2023, no exact date was provided. Finally however, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XVI will be coming to PlayStation 5 in late June.

Making the announcement at the 2022 Game Awards, Square Enix released a new Final Fantasy XVI trailer, called ‘REVENGE’, with the description reading as follows:

“The flames of vengeance burn bright and beckon with ambitious hunger. Awaken the Eikons, but will you dominate them or will they dominate you?”

As with all previous Final Fantasy XVI trailers, the stakes are high and the action is bombastic. Unlike previous trailers however, this one concluded with a hard release date: 22nd of June 2023.

Unfortunately, those who do not own a PS5 console will have to wait a while longer, as it was previously confirmed that FFXVI will be exclusive to Sony’s current-gen machine for at least 6 months. That being said, for those who do own a PlayStation 5, Final Fantasy XVI is shaping up to be one of the most exciting entries in the series’ history.

SplitGate team reportedly developing a Titanfall successor

1047 Games found a ton of success back in 2019 when they released SplitGate: a fun and fast-paced arena shooter in the vein of classic Halo, while adding a twist in the form of portals which players could place around the map for strategic plays. While its sequel has failed to make the same level of splash, the team are apparently working on a brand new game – this one being inspired by Titanfall.
