Intel has a Core i9-14900KS on the way

For a few generations now, Intel has followed up its flagship Core i9 desktop CPU with a ‘KS' variant, a binned version of the processor with higher clock speeds. While not officially announced yet, it does appear that a Core i9-14900KS is on the way, and it should be capable of up to 6.2GHz speeds out of the box.

Assuming the listing shared on the Anandtech forum by igor_kavinski is accurate, the i9-14900KS will have a boost clock speed of 6.2GHz. Although the number of cores is not specified, it would be strange if this differed from the i9-14900K. On the other hand, TDP should be slightly higher, most likely set at 150W.

It's worth noting that the store may not actually have the new CPU in stock despite displaying it on their site. The Core i9-14900KS is paired with DDR4-3200 memory, and the system lacks a dedicated GPU.

This processor so far has only shown up listed as part of this pre-built system, which also pairs the chip with DDR4 memory and lacks a dedicated GPU, which has us scratching our heads a bit. Typically, we would expect to see this CPU bundled with the latest DDR5 memory and a high-end GPU.

The Core i9-14900KS should launch in 2024 for the DIY PC market.

KitGuru says: While we would assume a 14900KS will become available eventually, we do wonder if this listing is an error, as the CPU shouldn't be launching until the first half of 2024.
