Sega confirmed plans to finally return to Alien Isolation around the first game's ten-year anniversary. Things have gone quiet since then but just this week, the publisher uploaded a new teaser trailer, indicating more news is coming soon.
The trailer, titled “False Sense of Security”, is a simple teaser with just 30 seconds of dark footage of a space station door unlocking, followed by a close-up short of one of the emergency save stations that players will recognise from the first game.
This teaser obviously doesn't reveal much, we don't even get a look at the Xenomorph. However, it does indicate that Creative Assembly is nearing a point of a big reveal.
While the original Alien Isolation was built using Creative Assembly's own in-house engine, this time around, the development team has switched to Unreal Engine 5. In theory this should help speed up production as there is a broader selection of talent familiar with UE5 and its tools, whereas proprietary in-house software can have all kinds of weird quirks that new hires won't be aware of.
