The Steam Machine will launch soon, new Steam code suggests

After quickly running out of the new Steam Controller, Valve opted to implement a reservation system for future orders in an effort to cut scalpers out and get the device into the hands of legitimate customers. Now, it would appear that this system will also be in place for the Steam Machine when it goes live.

Last week's Steam update has been datamined by fans, who discovered new strings that indicate that there are four planned ‘packages' for the Steam Machine, and another two packages for the Steam Frame. The code also shows that Valve has a reservation system in place, but the company has not yet announced its launch plans publicly.

The four packages for the Steam Machine spotted likely cover the 512GB and 2TB variants, both with and without an included controller. However, this is just a guess and Valve has not yet announced anything officially.

This update appearing on Steam, alongside the fact that Valve has been importing massive amounts of ‘game consoles' recently, would indicate that the Steam Machine will be launching very soon.

KitGuru Says: All signs are pointing towards a Steam Machine launch happening any day now. We still don't know pricing for the system, which will be the ultimate deciding factor for many considering picking one up.
