AMD is bringing FSR 4.1 upscaling to RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 GPUs

AMD launched FSR 4 a while back and it has already produced some noticeably better results in newer titles on RX 9000 series graphics cards. Now, AMD is also bringing its latest FSR 4.1 Upscaler to older RDNA 3 and RDNA 2-based GPUs.

The new FSR 4.1 upscaler is an upgrade over its predecessors thanks to the inclusion of ML-based upscaling. Like DLSS, this latest version of FSR uses AI machine learning to produce better final results.

RDNA 3 graphics cards, like the RX 7000 series of desktop GPUs, will get support for FSR 4.1 starting in July. Then in 2027, AMD also plans to bring the technology to RDNA 2 graphics cards as well.

While not confirmed yet, this theoretically means that other RDNA 3 or RDNA 2 powered GPUs, like the ones found in current-gen consoles and devices like the Steam Machine, could also see support for FSR 4 eventually.

KitGuru Says: With FSR 4.1 upscaling becoming available to a much wider userbase, we should see adoption grow too.
