Resident Evil Veronica gets new details as the game surpasses 1 million wishlists

For quite some time, there have been leaks and rumours claiming that Capcom were working on a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica. Sure enough, during Summer Game Fest, the much-anticipated remake was finally officially announced. Since then, we’ve gotten a bunch of new details regarding the upcoming project, including the fact that it will indeed be a 3rd-person experience.

While all of the classic Resident Evil games took on an isometric / 3rd person perspective, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard shook up the formula by switching to first-person. Since then, new entries in the series have allowed for both 1st and 3rd person perspectives, with their remake projects keeping things simple with just 3rd-person options.

That said, the announcement trailer for RE Veronica was presented in a 1st-person view, leading many to fear that it may deviate away from the original. Fortunately, this isn’t the case, with Capcom confirming during a Q&A session that Resident Evil Veronica “will be a third-person game.”

While not unexpected, the team also confirmed that Veronica is being developed by the same studio behind the excellent Resident Evil 2 and RE4 Remakes.

Last but not least, it seems as though excitement for RE Veronica is rather palpable, with Capcom confirming that the upcoming title has already amassed over 1 million wishlists across Steam and PS5.

Given that past RE Remakes have sold in excess of 10 million copies, it is safe to assume that this figure will only continue to rise as we get closer to the game’s 2027 release.
