The Epic Games Store has improved a little since first launching, but it still has a long way to go before catching up with the likes of Steam in features. Soon, Epic Games will be ‘rebuilding' the store app from scratch.
The Epic Games Store will be ‘rebuilt' over the next year. The overhaul aims to deliver 5x faster loading times for the application, along with new features to deliver in-app patch notes for games, cross-region game gifting and other UX improvements.
It is unclear when exactly each of these changes will be seen publicly, but we should see things like party chat, patch notes and the new storefront first, before UX and design improvements later down the line.
The new roadmap, as shared on Reddit, also points to a multi-platform version of the Epic Games Store in 2027. This lines up with rumours that Epic wants to put its store on future consoles, like Xbox Project Helix.
