Star Wars Eclipse developers to strike citing mismanagement and lack of resources

Quantic Dream developers have reportedly begun strike action this week, urging management to redirect resources toward the Star Wars Eclipse team. More than 100 developers who previously worked on Spellcasters Chronicles have been left without an active project during a time when the Star Wars Eclipse team desperately needs extra hands.

According to a number of Quantic Dream employees speaking with the French outlet Game Kult, the strike aims to convince management to re-assign Spellcasters Chronicles developers to Star Wars Eclipse. The sources describe the Eclipse team as severely understaffed, with progress on the game moving slowly. According to those involved, bringing over the Spellcasters team would give Eclipse the manpower it needs to move forward at a reasonable pace.

Developers also point out that it has already been a month since Spellcasters Chronicles was shut down. During that time, the affected staff could have been trained on Eclipse’s internal tools and pipelines, putting the project in a far healthier position today. Instead, many of those workers have spent weeks with little or no assigned work while waiting for management to decide their future.

Game Kult’s report includes testimony from multiple employees who say the strike is intended to “save” Star Wars Eclipse, not hinder it. They warn that if the planned redundancy programme goes ahead, the game cannot be finished in its current state. Some also expressed frustration with Quantic Dream’s top‑down structure, claiming that unclear direction and discarded work have already slowed development.

KitGuru Says: It has been five years since Star Wars Eclipse was announced but the game is still not close to release. In the current gaming market, that kind of time spent with little return can be a death sentence for a studio.
