ATLUS producer comments of Persona 1 and 2 Remakes: “I think we have to do it”

In the 10 years since the initial launch of Persona 5, we’ve seen ATLUS publish a ton of various side-projects, re-releases and full-on remakes. Following the success of Persona 3 Reload – and ahead of the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, ATLUS producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked about the prospects of remakes for the first two games in the series; responding positively to the notion.

Taking part in an interview conducted by the publication GamerBraves, ATLUS producer Kazuhisa Wada was asked about the upcoming Persona 4 Revival vis-a-vis “the technical challenges of rebuilding Inaba in 3D to the choices behind combat, story presentation, and the game’s new title.”

While the full interview can be found HERE, the most interesting part came when Wada was asked about other potential remake projects – namely remakes for the original Persona 1 and 2.

ATLUS Remake

Though a concrete answer was not provided, the prospect seems to be ruminating internally at ATLUS, with Wada stating: “At this point, I can't say for sure, but personally, I think it's something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.”

It is worth noting that of all the Persona games, the first two are likely to be the toughest to remake, owing to the fact that both games were developed for the PlayStation 1 and as such are structured very differently to P3 onwards. That said, this is perhaps the exact reason as to why these two titles deserve to be remade.

Either way, with Persona 4 Revival scheduled to launch in February of next year – and Persona 6 likely years away from release – don’t expect any more remakes anytime soon.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Persona’s remakes so far? Would you welcome a re-do of the first two entries? When do you think Persona 6 will officially launch? Let us know down below.
