Gamescom has outlined what to expect from this year’s Opening Night Live showcase, confirming several major games that will receive new trailers, updates and live appearances during the two‑hour broadcast on the 25th of August.
According to the event organisers, Geoff Keighley will be joined by developers throughout the show to debut fresh looks at a number of upcoming titles. Gears of War: E‑Day is confirmed for the showcase, alongside Final Fantasy VII Revelation, with director Naoki Hamaguchi appearing live to deliver the first update since the game’s announcement at Summer Game Fest.
CD Projekt Red will also be present with The Witcher 3’s new expansion, Songs of the Past, offering the first detailed look at Geralt’s next adventure. Additional titles include Ananta, Metro 2039, and Mewgenics, with the latter featuring a live musical performance during the broadcast.
Gamescom’s organisers also highlighted plans for the Awesome Indies show, which will run alongside ONL. The team aims to give indie developers greater visibility this year, with announcements, gameplay reveals and interviews with the developers.
KitGuru Says: With Gears of War: E‑Day, Final Fantasy VII Revelation and The Witcher 3’s new expansion all confirmed, this year’s Opening Night Live is shaping up to be one of the strongest line‑ups so far. Hopefully there will be a few big surprises sprinkled in as well.
