Rockstar finally responds to GTA 6 gameplay leaks

The GTA 6 leaks over the past week have been unavoidable, with several clips being uploaded each day leading up to the official gameplay reveal scheduled for later this week. Rockstar has remained quiet on the subject but has been quietly working behind the scenes to identify the source of the leaks. Now, the company has shared its first public statement on the matter.

In a post shared on socials this afternoon, Rockstar said: “We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time”.

The statement goes on to say that “we are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has, from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know. We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve”.

Rockstar labels the recent leaks as “unfortunate”, as the spoilers could impact the eventual gameplay experience for others. However, they are also confident that the game will be releasing on November 19th, reminding fans that there is not much longer left to wait.

While the GTA 6 campaign will be coming out in November, it is still unclear what the plan is for GTA Online. Nobody knows if GTA Online will be included as part of the GTA 6 package, or if it will be released at a much later date as a standalone purchase. There is also no word on when we can expect a PC version of the game. For now, GTA 6 will be limited to Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
