Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will star Mads Mikkelsen as the game’s antagonist

After years of less-than-stellar campaigns, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 looks to be a solid step in the right direction – at least when it comes to the game’s single-player offering. As with many of its best (and worst) story modes, the upcoming Call of Duty will include at least one major celebrity appearance, with Modern Warfare 4 officially confirming that Mads Mikkelsen will serve as one of the game’s antagonists.

As part of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presentation, the console maker released the official ‘Campaign Trailer’ for Modern Warfare 4. While we have already seen plenty from the campaign (even being given the opportunity to check out part of the first mission back during its beta), Activision / Infinity Ward were saving a pretty big surprise.

Near the end of the brief 2-and-a-half minute trailer, it was revealed that Modern Warfare 4 will include none other than Mads Mikkelsen himself, going up against fan-favourite Captain Price.

As mentioned, Call of Duty has featured famous celebrities across many of its previous campaigns, including-but-not-limited-to:

  • Kiernan Shipka (Black Ops 7)
  • Josh Duhamel (World War II)
  • Kit Harrington (Infinite Warfare)
  • Kevin Spacey (Advanced Warfare)
  • Idris Elba (Modern Warfare 3, 2011)
  • Gary Oldman (Black Ops 1 and World at War)

Of course, across all other aspects of the games, we’ve seen countless more celebrity appearances, with the Zombies mode in particular featuring David Hasselhoff; John Malkovich; Bill Paxton; Jon Bernthal; Helena Bonham Carter; Jeff Goldblum; Ron Pearlman; Ray Liotta; Danny Trejo; Sarah Michelle Gellar and countless others.

The same applies to COD’s various multiplayers, with all manner of famous names and faces being playable (albeit through the purchasing of cosmetics).

Regardless, getting Mads Mikkelsen for Modern Warfare 4’s campaign is a pretty big deal and – hopefully – means that we can expect to have a compelling villain for this year’s entry of Call of Duty.
