SteelSeries launches new Ultra‑Wideband wireless Sensei and Rival mice

SteelSeries is refreshing two of its most recognisable mouse lines with the launch of the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series. The new models introduce Ultra‑Wideband wireless and support for 8000Hz polling, with both full‑size and mini versions set to roll out in October.

Ultra‑Wideband wireless replaces the usual 2.4GHz connection with a much wider 6.4GHz–9.056GHz spectrum. According to SteelSeries, this provides significantly more bandwidth and helps avoid congestion from nearby wireless devices, which can be important when maintaining stable high‑rate polling. The Sensei Pro and Rival Pro mice also include a Max Performance Mode that locks the sensor to a constant 8000Hz report rate.

The new lineup uses the TrueMove 42K optical sensor, rated for 800IPS tracking and 70G acceleration. Optical switches offer a 100‑million click lifespan with 0.35ms latency. Full‑size models weigh 53g, while the mini versions come in at 49g and are available in black or white.

SteelSeries is also introducing a hot‑swappable dual‑battery system. One battery can charge while the other is in use, allowing uninterrupted wireless operation. Battery life is rated for up to 32 hours at 8000Hz polling or up to 120 hours at 1000Hz. Software configuration, aim‑training tools and sensitivity tuning are handled through the SteelSeries GG suite. All models are available for pre‑order at £169.99 / $179.99 / €199.99.
