Shure MV6 Gen 2 launches with new Auto Level and Real‑time Denoiser controls

Shure is updating its entry‑level streaming microphone with the MV6 Gen 2, adding two meaningful upgrades, including adjustable Auto Level Mode and an adjustable Real‑time Denoiser. These new controls give users finer command over volume consistency and background‑noise filtering, addressing two of the biggest limitations of the original MV6.

The MV6 Gen 2’s biggest upgrades are its adjustable Auto Level Mode and Real‑time Denoiser, two additions that give users more control over how the mic handles sudden volume changes and background noise. Users can set how loud their voice sits in the mix and how quickly the mic reacts, while the denoiser slider determines how much room ambience is allowed through. A 5‑band EQ and Dark, Natural and Bright tonal presets return, alongside dedicated modes for speech, singing and instruments, plus a built‑in virtual pop filter.

Quality‑of‑life improvements include onboard memory for saving custom profiles directly to the mic, ensuring consistent sound across devices. The MV6 Gen 2 also features a tap‑to‑mute button with a colour‑changing LED indicator, a 3.5mm headphone jack for zero‑latency audio monitoring and a desktop stand with an isolation base to reduce desk vibrations. Both colourways ship with matching cables and stands, with the white model adding flocked foam for a softer finish. The mic can be easily detatched from the stand and put onto a boom-arm using the standard 5/8‑inch thread.

The MV6 Gen 2 is available now for £159/$169/€150. It connects via USB‑C and is compatible with PC, Mac, Android and iOS through Apple MFi certification.

KitGuru Says: If you've ever studied music technology or production, then you'll have come across Shure before. Their microphones are highly regarded and used throughout the music industry and in more recent years, they've also been heavily used by podcasters. If anyone can get a ‘gaming' microphone sounding great, my money would be on them.
