Bit Reactor ended up releasing one of the best games of the year just six weeks ago with Star Wars Zero Company. Unfortunately, shortly after the launch, Bit Reactor ended up having to furlough a large chunk of its staff. Now that things have settled, the studio is bringing all of its staff back to work.
“This week, we started the process of returning more of our team back to work at Bit Reactor, an important step forward in our continued support for Zero Company”, a statement from Bit Reactor's CEO reads. “Having to ask team members to step away after we navigated unexpected business developments outside of our control and so close to launch was an incredibly difficult decision, but one that was necessary to help us eventually bring as many people back as possible.”
Game File first reported that Bit Reactor had furloughed staff back in August, leaving just a small active team to see the game through launch and fix any new bugs that emerge once players got their hands on the game.
In an updated report, a source told Game File that around half of the studio has now returned to work, so there is still more work to be done.
Star Wars Zero Company is an XCOM-style strategy game focused on a small group of operatives helping The Republic side during the Clone Wars. It released to excellent reviews and has quietly become one of my favourite games of 2026.
