The Witcher 3 Remastered launched to positive reviews but the overhaul has not arrived without issues. In a new patch for the game, CDPR has addressed an issue corrupting save files, as well as a number of visual issues and other bugs.
One of the headline fixes in this update addresses a rare but serious issue that could corrupt save data. CDPR says it has implemented measures to prevent the problem from occurring and has also added safeguards for saves that may have already been affected. Alongside this, the patch resolves several gameplay quirks, including delayed dodge responses, stamina draining incorrectly when sprinting and dodging simultaneously, and cases where bombs could still be thrown even with the option disabled. Combat interactions have also been tightened, with improvements to ladder animations, fixes for Geralt colliding with enemies after Aard finishers, and adjustments to skills like Synergy and Exploding Shield.
The patch also delivers a round of visual and graphics improvements. CDPR has made adjustments to Bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, Ray Tracing and Path Tracing, as well as fixing foliage behaviour so plants now react properly to collisions. On PC, the update resolves issues with Dynamic Resolution Scaling, incorrect GPU selection, and settings like GTAO Quality or DLSS/XeSS being applied on unsupported hardware. The default Dynamic Resolution Scaling setting has now been changed to OFF, and several UI problems have been corrected, including stuck ability‑point pop‑ups and misaligned progress bars.
Console players receive their own set of fixes too. The update adds Bloom, Light Shafts and Depth of Field options to the graphics menu, while also improving overall performance. A long‑standing issue on PlayStation 5 that caused settings to reset on every launch has now been resolved, and frame‑rate limits in different graphics modes have been corrected. The voiceover audio bug that caused dialogue to become significantly quieter after navigating pause‑menu tabs has also been fully implemented on consoles.
