Video: How Foxconn make an iPad

A fantastic video has appeared from Rob Schmitz, the Shanghai Bureau Chief of Marketplace. Apple granted him a pass into the Foxconn factory, and he was allowed to film the various production stages required to build the iPad tablet.

Surprisingly, a lot of the construction is done by hand, rather than by purely robotic means.

The average worker in the Foxconn factory earns only $14 a day, although they double this after a couple of years work.

The video also highlights some of the recreational areas of the building, as workers wind down. It looks a tough job, for little money, so if you are feeling unhappy about your job, then it is definitely worth a look!
