Google Chrome overtakes Internet Explorer for top spot

According to a recent StatCounter release, The Google Chrome browser has overtaken Microsoft's Internet Explorer to take the mantle of ‘World's most Popular Internet Web Browser'.

Chrome has already overtaken Internet Explorer in various parts of the world. Until recently however it has never be able to beat Microsoft's browser worldwide over a longer period of time.

The latest StatCounter report show the Google browser averaging higher than Internet Explorer over a seven day period, from 14th May to 20th May.

Chrome took 32.76 percent of the average market share, which is slightly ahead of Microsoft's 31.94 percent. Mozilla Firefox took third place with 25.47 percent of the share.
