German police take down Pirate Party servers

German police have taken down servers related to the German Pirate Party. This operation was started by the French authorities.

The Piratenpartei Deutschland issued a statement which said “police confiscated a number of servers of the German Pirate Party which are provided by AixIT in Offenbach, for a French investigation”.

The Party have said that they will support the French authorities in the investigations although they feel they have done nothing wrong. They are trying to work out why all their servers have been disabled.

The party leaders said “The disconnection of all servers is a massive intrusion into the communications infrastructure of the sixth largest party in Germany. Considering the state elections taking place in Bremen in two days, this caused a severe political damage, which the Board condemns decisively.”

The French authorities are looking into a possible attack on the IT infrastructure of power group Électricité de France SA (EDF) which has been blamed on Anonymous.

KitGuru says: They are rebooting servers ‘piece by piece' this morning.
