Amazon planning colour e-reader later this year

Amazon may be planning to release new colour e-reader devices later this year according to an industry insider we spoke with yesterday. Makers in the supply chain are already preparing to ship components for the production.

The new colour e-reader devices are going to be built with multi touch capacitive touch panels, marking a change from the infrared touch panels used in previous mono ebook readers. This was confirmed today by Digitimes.

Amazon to release colour ereader, like the Copia Color device shown above.

Amazon are likely to adopt E Ink Holdings colour EPD products. TPK Holding, touch panel makers are also working with Amazon for the upcoming e-reader products.
