SilverStone LUCID LD03-AF Mini-ITX Case Review

SilverStone LUCID LD03-AF GPU Thermal Performance Testing

As with every case we review, thermal performance is important, in the case of the SilverStone LUCID LD03-AF, measuring the GPU thermal performance is the main focus since SilverStone has revised the case side panel in an attempt to improve GPU temperature.

To fully stress test the GPU inside the SilverStone LUCID LD03-AF, we will run the 3DMark Time Spy stress test in a loop 30 times with the case in two configurations. With this data, we can compare how each scenario affects the thermal performance of the GPU and we will find out if the revised intake vent SilverStone has added to the LD03-AF is working as the company claims.

We will compare the system’s thermal capabilities using the stock Nvidia Heatsink on the RTX 2060 GPU and with a be quiet! Pure Rock 2 CPU cooler.

During thermal testing, only stock case fans will be used unless otherwise specified. All fans and pumps (where applicable) will be set to their standard fan curve profile as controlled by the ASRock motherboard.

All temperature measurements are presented as Deltas – the ambient temperature has been deducted from the CPU/GPU temperature giving us a Delta.

The following case configurations will be used to measure the effect they have on thermal and performance of the GPU specifically:

  • Case configured with the revised GPU intake vent open
  • Case configured with the revised GPU intake vent closed
