Early benchmark shows 18% performance improvement for Intel Core i7-14700K

The Intel 14th Gen Core chips are expected to release later this year, but Intel has yet to share details about the upcoming processors. However, leaks are beginning to appear, with one leaker sharing new screenshots this week, claiming benchmark results for the Core i7-14700K.

Hardware leaker @wnxod (via VideoCardz) recently shared what is claimed to be a benchmark of the Core i7-14700K processor. While the CPU is not yet recognized by any software, it is identified as the Raptor Lake HX/S die. The CPU-Z output indicates a clock speed of up to 5.5 GHz, which is only a 100 MHz increase compared to the Core i7-13700K.

Other specifications can be seen in the screenshot shared by @harukaze5719, which corroborates the rumoured increase in cores. According to the Windows Task Manager screenshot, the CPU has 20 cores and 28 threads, matching the rumoured 8x P-cores and 12x E-cores configuration. This core configuration is the same as the mobile Core i7-13850HX CPU, but it clearly isn't a mobile CPU, as the base clock is significantly higher.

Based on the leaked benchmark, the Core i7-14700K scores 905 points in the CPU-Z single-core test and 14965 points in the multi-threaded test. In the Cinebench R23 test, it scores 2192 points in the single-core test and 36296 points in the multi-threaded test. Comparing it to the existing Core i7-13700K with 8 Performance and 8 Efficient cores, the Core i7-14700K shows a performance increase of around 4% in single-core tests and 17–18% in multi-threaded tests. Intel's Raptor Lake Refresh is now expected to launch in October, with the initial focus on the K-series SKUs.

KitGuru says: We're still months away from Intel announcing its next round of desktop processors, so this benchmark leak arrives particularly early. We'll have to wait and see how accurate it ends up being when review samples arrive later down the line.
