Ryzen 7000 CPUs will boast faster infinity fabric and ship in new packaging

We're rapidly approaching the launch for AMD's new Ryzen 7000 series processors and as a result, we're seeing more leaks. This week, we learned that AMD has designed new packaging for its new-gen processors, and it also seems that AMD has quietly increased the speed of its Infinity Fabric too.

The creator of Hydra and CTR, Yuri Bubliy (aka 1usmus), has shared some details regarding the Ryzen 7000 series' memory capabilities. For example, users should be able to modify active memory timings of each channel, LCLK, VDDIO, VPP, CCX clock and a few other settings. However, the most interesting bit of information shared was the max Infinity Fabric (IF) frequency, which has apparently been pushed to 3000MHz. This means Zen 4's “sweet spot” for memory would be DDR5-6000.

Also related to the Ryzen 7000 series topic, VideoCardz has shared what it claims to be the new packaging for Ryzen 7000 series processors. The render only shows the Ryzen 9 packaging, so there's a chance that Ryzen 7 and 5 series chips will come in a different box.

Moreover, the rendered image came with pricing details. As per the source, the Ryzen 7 7700X will cost the same as the Ryzen 7 5700X ($299.99), while the Ryzen 7 7800X will be more expensive than the Ryzen 7 5800X ($449.99). As for the Ryzen 9 chips, they will also cost more than their predecessors ($549.99 and $799.99).

KitGuru says: Memory above DDR5-6000 should still work with these new processors, but as far as price to performance goes, it might not be worth putting your money into a faster and much more expensive kit.
