AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Review

To overclock today we are using AMD's Catalyst Control Center.

We weren't expecting to get a great overclock from this card, considering the high default state, however we were pleasantly surprised to achieve 1,155mhz from the core, which translates to a 10% increase. The GDDR5 memory could be overclocked to 1,655mhz (6620mhz effective) from 1,500 mhz, translating to a 10.3 % overclock.

The card responds exceptionally well to overclocking and there is clearly some headroom, at least on our sample anyway. At 1,155mhz core /1655mhz memory, the score increased from 8,872 points to 9,483 points, or around 400 points less than the last generation dual GPU flagship, the HD6990. A very impressive achievement.
